Album Covers in Surf Culture
Album covers are the first thing people visually see when buying physical formats of music. The Beach Boys’ album: surfin’ safari, includes the band parked on the beach looking to the ocean to analyze the waves. Dick Dale’s Surfers’ Choice gives a visual of a surfer riding a large wave. The Ventures also includes a surfer on a large wave on the cover to their album “Surfing”. These artists wanted to directly tie their music to the surf world. Not only did their songs give insight to surf culture, but their album covers gave listeners and fans a visual to the surf culture they loved. Album covers gave inspiration to people in all walks of life to immerse themselves in the world of surfing.
